The power of a focused entrepreneur

February 28, 2023 · Angela Cruz

The challenge of pursuing an idea is a responsibility that many take lightly. There are those who don't dare try because they already know the effort and dedication it takes to make an impact, and there are others who do try but let fear overtake them.

Working with many entrepreneurs, I've noticed one thing they all have in common: impostor syndrome.

Many people who have ideas capable of positively impacting the market and society think their abilities are limited and that they don't have what it takes to hit the mark with precision, purpose, and focus. That's when they give up and stop pursuing what could possibly be an idea that transforms and delivers vital solutions to a specific niche.

If you're one of those people struggling with your insecurities and, above all, trying to reach a kind of "perfection" in order to measure up to the needs of your target audience, let me tell you that you need to swap that mindset for this one: "I can do this, I am capable, I am equipped, and to achieve it I don't need to turn myself into a superhero."

To measure up, you don't need to make a 180-degree turn — don't underestimate your power as an entrepreneur. Starting your business isn't easy, I know. It requires certain qualities and skills, but they're your own, not those of whoever you're comparing yourself to. You are unique, and your abilities are just as valid as those of someone running a million-dollar business.

All you need is the willingness to discover and assertively develop your strengths. And if there's a quality you lack, you can always learn it — learning is the most courageous and powerful action an entrepreneur has at their disposal.

The great ones are built from small steps at the start of their careers. Everything begins with little. No one launches the dream of their life feeling completely secure or covering every angle of a venture on the first try. In this race, we never stop learning.

A small change you bring about in your work environment, your business, or your personal life — one that actually works — is already a great achievement worth celebrating. Anything that has a positive impact on someone else's life is already worthwhile.

Here is what I advise, so your path as an entrepreneur is genuinely effective:

  • Prioritize
  • Plan
  • Develop

Prioritizing, planning, and developing short-, medium-, and long-term strategies is essential in order to measure results, and your progress will depend on it. Always stay focused on your work with consistency, discipline, and perseverance.

You must put your knowledge, experience, gifts, talents, and sense of service into action to solve your client's problem, and believe me — if you manage to solve even a single need, you'll have already achieved a great deal.

Focus on your mission and don't get bogged down chasing "perfection." As long as you always pursue proper administrative, commercial, and operational management of your services, you'll be on the right path toward an effective venture.

Direct your efforts toward a single objective — lack of focus will make your company less competitive and put its lifespan in the market at risk.

Believe in yourself, work, and achieve your goals.
