The 5 qualities of a successful leader

Is a leader born or made? You've probably heard… "He's a born leader." This phrase implies that the qualities that make a good leader come from birth, but can we become great leaders even without being born with those qualities?
Today I want to tell you that you don't need to be born with special abilities to be a leader. It's true that some traits tend to be innate, such as charisma, humility, and empathy. However, study, research, reading, surrounding yourself with accomplished leaders, and taking classes that nurture that title can build a spirit of leadership within you and, in addition, strengthen your natural abilities.
Take heart — don't think that lacking certain skills and attitudes already excludes you from belonging to the great family of leaders who build ventures and transform the world. The right guidance does exactly that: it turns anyone who longs for success and for their business ideas to come true into a thriving leader who lifts others up.
For that reason, because I want to give you tools to start your journey in the pursuit and development of your leadership, I want to show you the following five qualities of a successful leader:
1. They are self-aware and prioritize personal development.
Effective leaders focus on developing their emotional intelligence. Leaders who work to perfect this quality are more adaptable, more resilient, and more willing to accept the opinions of others. They also know how to listen and are open to change.
2. They focus on developing others.
This leadership quality is based on the principles of situational leadership theory, which suggests that effective leaders adapt based on whether an individual or group is ready, willing, and able to carry out a specific action. Delegating, coaching, and mentoring are important tasks of situational leadership.
3. They foster strategic thinking, innovation, and action.
A leader has to look ahead. You must think about the vision and plan every task needed to achieve it. Leaders must take into account internal factors within the organization and the needs of their people, as well as external factors such as government regulations and technological advances.
4. They are ethical and civic-minded.
Strong leaders consider the ethical consequences of the decisions they make, both for their clients and for their teams. They are mindful of practicing ethics and civility, and they reflect genuine concern for the well-being of their team.
5. They practice effective cross-cultural communication.
Respected leaders are able to communicate clearly with people, business units, the company as a whole, and stakeholders outside the organization. They always address others with respect and highlight strengths above shortcomings.
Strengthen these five qualities, inspire others to put them into action, and set the course for your future success. A great leader is forged through constant learning; never assume that your natural qualities are enough.
