Do you want to sell more? Humanize your brand

July 16, 2021 · Angela Cruz

The brands with the strongest market positioning aren't just the ones with a pretty logo, a catchy name, and a quality product. They are the ones that convey emotion and show themselves as being like the consumer.

The problem with many brands being born today on social media is that they get caught up in selling and forget to empathize. If you show up every day at your neighbors' door telling them, "I sell nice t-shirts, buy one, they're cheap," believe me, those neighbors will end up hating you.

But if one day you invite them over for coffee, strike up a conversation about all sorts of topics, share a laugh over some anecdote or other, and then invite them to see your t-shirt workshop, showing them your workspace, the fabrics, and the styles that sell best, believe me, when they need a t-shirt, you'll be their first choice.

That's what brand humanization is all about. Presenting the product or service as part of my lifestyle, showing it as a tool that makes life simpler and more enjoyable, through person-to-person communication with my potential customer. No "FOR SALE" signs, no "grab it now, today's super deal."

If you want to make sales, you have to earn the trust of the people who need what you sell. Just because it's a great product doesn't mean you should take it for granted that it will sell like hotcakes. Connect with the consumer in a friendly way, make them feel at home.

For example, what makes us buy Coca-Cola is that they have always known how to weave their soda into life's most exciting moments (birthdays, vacations, gatherings). The product becomes one more member of the family.

That's how you humanize your brand. By making it a person with feelings, one that laughs with people, cooks alongside you, and goes with you wherever you go. In the end, what guarantees the sale isn't the product, but the emotions it generates in people.

Now that you've read this article, rethink how you promote your business. Remember, the more personality and empathy your brand has, the more your potential customers will warm up to it.

By humanizing your service or product, you'll set yourself apart from your competition and expand your business opportunities. Your relationship with your customers will become much closer, and that's how you'll build a community of people interested in your brand.
